September 3, 1907, saw Hans Madsen start a private bank in connection with his harness shop located in Kimballton, Iowa. On December 27, 1909, a brick building was completed and a charter issued for a national bank, thus a true beginning for Landmands National Bank. The main office was moved to Audubon in 1980. Landmands, the Danish word for farmer, reflects the strong Danish heritage of this area.
